Sutton Council wants to consult with residents on the provision of Special Educational Needs (SEN) support in three borough primary and secondary schools.
The proposals concern Moderate Learning Difficulty (MLD) places available at the Avenue Primary and Amy Johnson Primary Schools, and the number of Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) places available at Glenthorne High School.
Links to the two separate consultations can be found here for the MLD places at Avenue Primary and Amy Johnson Primary schools and here for the ASD places at Glenthorne High School.
Residents and particularly the parents of pupils who may be affected are being encouraged to complete the consultations before they close on Friday 1 April 2016.
Cllr Wendy Mathys, Chair of the Children, Family and Education Committee at Sutton Council, said:
“It’s essential we can support those who need extra assistance or tuition as they progress through the school system.
“Education is one of the issues which matters most to people in our borough – we have an excellent system that consistently delivers great results and is a testament to all our pupils and the teachers who work so hard giving them the opportunities to get ahead in life.”
Print copies of the MLD places consultation will also be available from Avenue Primary and Amy Johnson Primary Schools, and the ASD places consultation from Glenthorne High School.
The opportunity for face-to-face meetings with Colin Stewart, Executive Head of Education and Early Intervention at Sutton Council, will also be offered to all schools, school staff, and parents directly affected by the proposals.
