The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile is returning to David Weir Leisure Centre. Sutton is set to host its second Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile on Sunday 23 March and still needs local people to come together and show their support by entering now at www.sportrelief.com.
The Sport Relief Mile will start at 10:00 at David Weir Leisure Centre, operated by Everyone Active on behalf of Sutton council. Entrants don’t have to be sporty to take part, but can choose to complete one, three or six miles knowing that all the money raised will help to change the lives of people living unimaginably tough lives right here on our doorstep, across the rest of the UK and in some the world’s poorest countries.
Everyone Active General Manager Jodie Morris said: “So far a good number of people have signed up for the Sport Relief Mile but we need more men, women and children to take part,” she says. “You can walk, run or dance your way to the finish line and you don’t have to be a super sprinter to take part! It’s a fantastic opportunity to get active and do something amazing so we’re encouraging the local community to get together with friends and family and join in the fun.”
Councillor Jill Whitehead, Chair of Sutton Council’s Environment and Neighbourhoods Committee said:
“This is the second time that the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile has come to Sutton so I hope lots of local people get their sports gear on to show the rest of the country what we can do.
“As well as raising money for a good cause, this is a fun event which brings people together to get active.
“I look forward to seeing runners, joggers and walkers of all abilities taking part.”
Entry costs £6 for adults, £3 for children or £15 per family.
