Ever wondered why birds sing at such early hours? Want to improve your bird call and song recognition or simply fancy an early morning stroll to nature’s symphony?
Join Sutton Council’s Biodiversity Team this Sunday 4 May, 5-7.30am for a Dawn Chorus Walk at Sutton Ecology Centre.
The early riser catches the bird! Sutton’s Biodiversity Officer David Warburton will guide you from dawn and tune your ears to all the different bird songs around Carshalton’s parks and nature reserves. The walk will start and finish at Sutton Ecology Centre, with light refreshments (tea, coffee, etc.) provided at the end.
Hendryk Jurk, Biodiversity Manager for Sutton Council said:
“Local parks and open spaces are heavily used by people during the day but as the sun comes up, the birds are the ones in control! A gentle stroll will impress upon you the diversity of life under your nose (or at least, up in the trees!)”
“Sutton Council works hard to ensure that our parks and nature reserves are managed to allow wildlife to thrive, whilst also enabling people to get out and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. As the year progresses, why not take the opportunity to learn more about our local natural history and one of the joys of spring?”
The event is £4 per person and is suitable for everyone that can get up that early! Online Booking early is recommended.
